The home is an old colonial house with a slate roof in Le Droit Park - Washington, DC. The slate aged and was causing leaks in the residence. This is a very slopped roof with large dormers and four chimneys. The built-in gutter around the house and the front porch had a metal roof which was rusting away as well.
The erection of scaffolding was needed in order to properly remove and reinstall all the copper built in gutters around the house and to allow access to the main roof and dormers. Because the building was located in a historical area, the roof was replaced with real slate and copper flashes all around the house. The front porch was replaced with a flat seam copper roof and the chimneys were re-pointed.
