How Does Solar Work

See Figure Below:

1. Solar Modules mounted on the roof of your home or building convert sunlight into DC power.

2. This DC power is carried to an inverter which converts that DC power into AC power that is just like the power being sent to you from Pepco.

3. The power travels from the inverter to your electrical panel (breaker / fuse box) where it is then sent throughout your home or building.

4. When your solar system is producing more electricity than you are using, this excess power flows into the power grid through your electric meter. This gives you a credit with the utility company, which means that you are lowering your monthly bill.
